Day 1
Monday, August 17
A morning drive will take us across Illinois, Indiana and north into Michigan to Mackinaw City, MI where we will be staying at the Best Western Dockside. We all will have rooms with a view of the lake and this will be our home for the next two nights. B
Day 2
Tuesday, August 18
This morning we will board one of the Shepler’s hydroplane boats that will deliver us to Mackinac Island in just 18 minutes. This is a quaint island where no motorized vehicles are allowed. We will enjoy a horse drawn carriage tour around the island, then to the Grand Hotel where a lavish buffet lunch will be served. Shop the stores and sample the fudge before returning to Mackinaw City for the night. BL
Day 3
Wednesday, August 19
We will enjoy breakfast before departing for Frankenmuth, MI. Year round Christmas shopping, chicken dinners and Bavarian style architecture is just a few of the reasons Frankenmuth is called “Michigan’s Little Bavaria” We are going to visit Bonner’s Christmas store where it’s Christmas year around and also enjoy some shopping in Downtown Frankenmuth. Dinner tonight will be at “Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth” for one of their famous “family style chicken dinner” and all the trimmings. This is also Frankenmuth Summer Music Fest featuring Polka band, 50”s & 60”s Rock n’ Roll, Christian Contemporary and Southern Gospel music. Heritage Park will be filled with tents, dance floor, food, drinks and lots of fun. It’s called the “Party of the Year!!” There will be a separate admission if you want to go. We will be staying at the Drury Inn located right on Main Street in the middle of all the shops. BD
Day 4 & 5
Thursday & Friday, August 20, 21
heading to Dearborn, MI. We will have a two day pass to visit Greenfield Village, Henry Ford Museum and take the Ford Rouge Factory Tour and watch them making the F-150 Ford Truck. This is your chance to get behind the scenes of one of the world’s largest automotive complex’s and get a bird’s eye view of “how” it’s done! You will rediscover America by experiencing the sights, sounds and sensations of America’s past in Greenfield Village.. There are 9 separate districts and each district narrates its own American past. Everything from domestic life, workday life, trade and commerce, farm life and the stories of American’s that changed every life forever. These 90 acres of history is easy to travel around with the help of our unlimited transportation pass, meaning you can go from place to place on any of the modes of transportation within the Village. The Henry Ford Museum is a remarkable showcase of American innovations, national treasures and ideas that have changed the world. At the end of the day our home away from home will be the Doubletree Hotel, located near Greenfield Village. Lunch and Dinner will be included each day along with our breakfast at the Doubletree. 2B 1L 2D
Day 6
Saturday, August 22
It’s time to head back home today! We will depart Dearborn, MI and head for Nappanee, IN and Amish Acres where we will enjoy the Threshers Dinner and a little time to look around the shops. We will arrive back to Peru in the late afternoon after a fun filled time as we enjoyed some Michigan Summer Fun!! BL
