Day 1
Thursday, Dec. 4
Excitement will be high as we depart the cold Midwest and head to the warmer temperatures of San Antonio to enjoy the Christmas Season on the River Walk. Anytime of the year is a good time to visit the San Antonio Riverwalk, but the Christmas season is one of the best with flickering ‘luminarias’ lining both sides of the river and more then 122,000 hanging lights among the trees. There will be nightly carolers, shopping, dining, and an Arts and Craft Show along the River Walk on the weekend. We don’t want to miss the relaxing boat cruise meandering the 2 ½ mile El Paseo del Rio River!!! We will be stopping for lunch near St. Louis and spending the night in Little Rock, AR. (B)
Day 2
Friday, Dec. 5
Our travels today will take us across Arkansas into Texas. We will travel thru 3 different sections of Texas today…the Piney Woods, the Prairies and Lakes and a small section of the Hill Country before we arrive in the San Antonio, located in the northern part of the Plains. Our Dinner tonight is at Luby’s Cafeteria and then on to our home for the next 4 nights…The Historical Menger Hotel. The hotel is located across the street from the Alamo, with the Alamo Plaza right out our front door, a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the sounds and sites of San Antonio. You will be steps away from the River Walk and also the River Walk Mall is next door to the hotel. Enjoy the River Walk tonight or relax in our beautiful historical Menger Hotel. (B,D)
Day 3
Saturday, Dec. 6
Breakfast will be in the dining room of the Menger Hotel followed by a Trolley Tour of San Antonio that will highlight the many Missions and attractions around town. Your Trolley pass will be good for the next two for you return to your favorite spot to explore more. Your afternoon will be free to enjoy as you please, but tonight we will have Dinner on the River Walk at the The Republic of Texas and our own special River Boat will pick us up and take us on a cruise to see all the Christmas lights. Day 4
Sunday, Dec. 7
Breakfast in the dining room of the Menger Hotel. The morning is free for those who would like to attend Sunday morning services at one of the local Missions. Lunch will be at Micheleno’s on the River Walk and then a lesson in history as we attend the I-MAX film on the battle at the Alamo. A short walk across the street will deliver us to the Alamo and step back into history. The rest of the afternoon and evening is ours to enjoy…remember..your Trolley Passes are good again today. Day 5
Monday, Dec. 8
Breakfast at the Menger Hotel before starting a new adventure today. Our first stop is going to be the S.A.S Shoe Factory for a tour on how shoes are made. They also have a factory outlet store with bargains you can’t resist!! Before heading back to downtown San Antonio, we will stop for lunch at a Bill Miller BBQ restaurant. This afternoon and evening will be yours to enjoy. (B,L)
Day 6
Tuesday, Dec. 9
Breakfast at our hotel before departing for Little Rock, AR. This will be a travel day filled with activities, movies and such to make the time pass quickly. The Hampton Inn will be our home tonight. (B)
Day 7
Wednesday, Dec. 10
Breakfast this morning at our hotel before departing for home. But we sure to save room for our Farewell Lunch today! We are stopping in Sikeston, MO at Lamberts….home of the Throwed Roll! We will arrive back in Peru in the late afternoon with many memories of the San Antonio River Walk at Christmas!! (B,L)
